Abstract :
Service management architecture is growing in importance for providing reliable telecommunications and operations services. This paper proposes a service operation and management architecture suitable for providing services in a distributed processing environment. The proposed architecture monitors application software elements (AEs) that constitute service applications (APs) and reside in different processing nodes in the telecommunications network. This monitoring function detects AE faults and identifies faulty APs quickly. Furthermore, SOMSE also enables the recovery of those faulty APs by substituting the faulty AEs with other normal AEs and informing client AEs that substitution has occurred
