Abstract :
This paper presents a new method based on evolutionary algorithm for optimizing the rendering quality in stroke-based rendering. The stroke-based rendering problem involves search in a high dimensional space with many local optima, where it Is hard to find an analytic solution. The proposed method produces, for a wide variety of input images, statistically significantly better results than previously published methods such as random descent, and is also seen to scale well.
