Abstract :
A proposal is summarised for a reference signal for inclusion in the vertical blanking interval (VBI) to enable television receivers equipped with appropriate circuitry to eliminate the effects of ghosting. A single line per frame is required. Discussion within the European Broadcasting Union has led to a recommendation that such a reference signal be placed on line 318. Field tests of a ghost cancellation system are planned to take place during 1994, and expected to lead to standardization of the parameters of the reference signal
