Abstract :
In this paper we present a growable high-performance deflection-routing ATM switching architecture and a new algorithm for multicasting in this switch. It is a deflection-routing type buffered Banyan network using cyclic interconnection among switching elements of the same stage with the help of additional lateral links. The switching elements are interconnected in the form of cyclic groups in each stage based on topological properties of banyan network. We show that the new network has a far better performance than other architectures.
