Abstract :
V.34 half duplex ITU standard recommendation is used in high-speed fax transmission. The key challenge in the V.34 half duplex scheme is the resynchronization of carrier phase and clock after every switching between primary and control channel. The performance and the resynchronization speed of V.34 digital receiver depend, crucially on proper estimation and tracking of sampler timing phase and carrier phase after every resynchronization event This paper describes the methods implemented for recovering the baud/carrier timing phase, by making optimum use of training signals during resynchronization. This paper, also address the empirical approaches, which helps in faster synchronization to minimize the errors. These schemes are implemented on TMS30C55X DSP processor, and tested with commercially available fax machines.
