This introduction aims to give a basic understanding of asynchronous transfer mode technology, covering the ATM cell concept and structure, calling and signalling, the ATM Adaptation Layer for different service classes, network management and control, continuing issues (echo control, synchronisation and multicast signalling), and practical network development projects
