Assessment of a technique for measurement of antenna G/T using solar noise

A fundamental measure of the sensitivity of a microwave receiving system could be estimated directly and simply from a measurement of the ratio of the noise output of the system when the antenna is pointed at the sun, to that when the antenna is pointing at `cold´ sky. The purpose of the work described was to assess the achievable accuracy of the technique, and to identify the critical aspects of such a measurement
