Abstract
Multidisciplinary research about documentary activities in dynamic environment supervision is reported. The paper mainly focuses on the approach and methods used. After preliminary observations that showed the strong embedding of information and communication activities developed by the actors in the actual network supervision activity, a systematic description of these activities was carried out; this led us to consider the whole information and communication activities as a cooperative information system coupled with the supervision system itself. In parallel, operators´ cognitive representations were analyzed through several documentary activities previously identified. Finally, in the light of both previous approaches, the disturbance sources of the cooperative information system were examined by studying its usability and operability and lastly remedial hypothesis were proposed
