Abstract :
A summary is presented of the options available for the placement of feature management functionality in the intelligent network (IN). The various options available to the telephone companies for the distribution of features in a fully distributed network and the implications for the placement of the arbitration mechanism needed to resolve interactions among the features are shown. The options for the placement of the feature management mechanism are explored and the impact on the network is also discussed
