Abstract
A new multi-user receiver for synchronous coded CDMA systems is proposed that removes the multi-user interference (MUI) by projecting the interfering users onto the signal space of the desired users, i.e., chooses the least mean squares (LMS) estimate of the interfering users. This results in an adjusted metric for decoding of the desired user(s) which is (are) decoded via maximum-likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE). Simulation results confirm superior system performance, using only a single user decoder
