Abstract :
Candidate data management capabilities are identified for exchange carrier-programmable network and operations platforms. These data management capabilities include: (1) location transparency, which allows applications to access data without knowing where the data are located; (2) distributed transaction control, which performs distributed transaction processing on behalf of the application to preserve the global semantic integrity in a distributed environment; and (3) replication transparency, which facilitates data replication to increase performance and availability
