Title :
Power electronics computer aided engineering: an introduction
Author_Institution :
Dept. of Electr. & Electron. Eng., Ulster Univ., UK
Abstract :
The author gives a brief overview of power electronics computer-aided engineering by clarifying the terminology associated with CAE. The definitions proposed by Freeman (1988) are an appropriate summary, i.e. much of what is generally regarded as computer-aided design (CAD) is, in fact, computer-aided analysis (CAA) of designs which have not originated from a computer. Each of the these is a single discrete activity. True CAE involves the use of two or more linked CAD or computer-aided manufacture (CAM) systems
