  • Abstract
    A novel simple structure and wideband planar antenna is proposed. The antenna is in form of a rectangular copper patch with one vertical slot and two transverse slots. The proposed antenna can be matched to the intrinsic impedance of an ordinary coaxial cable (50 Omega) without using parasitic elements or balun circuits. The experiment and simulation show that the proposed antenna is capable of providing an impedance bandwidth of up to 78% for the return loss of less than -10 dB, which is about 1.56 times as much as that of the rectangular copper patch antenna with only one vertical slot. The antenna resembles that of loop antenna with regard to the radiation characteristics.
