Abstract :
One of the least investigated and therefore less well documented aspects of the distributed-queue dual-bus access protocol currently being standardized by the IEEE 802.6 Committee is the behavior of the protocol when all the priority levels are considered as functioning. This problem is dealt with by presenting the results obtained from a simulation model developed using the CACI Network 2.5 on an Apollo 4500 workstation. The results provide interesting grounds for an analysis of DQDB behavior and point to various research aspects worth investigating
