Abstract :
In this paper, a design method for a boost chopper circuit with thermoelectric generator (TEG) for a rechargeable battery is proposed. In order to decrease power loss in the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the inductance in the boost chopper circuit, the minimum inductance to maintain Continuous Current Mode is determined. An equation between the open circuit voltage of TEG and the on duty ratio of the switch is derived in which the ESR of each element and forward voltage drop of the diodes are taken into consideration. According to the equation, a simple MPPT algorithm is proposed and implemented.
