Abstract
Phased array antennas with the ability of beam reconfiguration can satisfy the changing services requirement in future satellite or terrestrial communication systems. An approach using genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed for digital multi-beam reconfiguration of phased array antennas. The software simulation results of multi-beam reconfiguration with GA are given to show its effectiveness. Furthermore, considering the parallelism of the genetic algorithm, a digital hardware prototype combined DSP and FPGA devices is considered to perform multi-beam reconfiguration in real-time.
