Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a simple electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure where periodic patterns of polygon holes are etched In the signal line of the microstrip structure. Unlike the conventional EBG microstrip structure, this structure can be installed in a shielded box without loosing its performances as the integrality of the ground plane is maintained here. Simulation is done with the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method and wide stop band is obtained. Results also show that stop band characteristic can be tuned by changing the shape, size and position of the EBG cells.
