  • Abstract
    A novel and simple design of a printed elliptical disc monopole antenna for ultra wideband radio applications is presented. The ultra wideband property for the proposed antenna is achieved by using a new impedance matching technique of half ellipse ground at the opposite the microstrip line. The tapered ground pattern serves as an effective means for adjusting the gap between the radiating element and the ground plane. Details of the proposed antenna design and measured results are presented and discussed. Good agreement is achieved between simulation and experiment.
