Abstract
This paper deals with a study of a shunt Active Power Filter (APF) applied to two-phase, three-wire electricity networks using the Single-Phase p-q Theory. An alternative single-phase a-αβ transformation which improves instantaneous power calculations is proposed. The compensating filter currents calculations in two-phase, three-wire shunt APF are described in both direct and indirect methods using the proposed a-αβ transformation. Computational simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed shunt APF in compensating current harmonics and reactive power in two-phase, three-wire loads, even under a distorted supply voltage condition.
