Abstract :
The basic principles of chrono-coherent imaging (CCI), a recently developed technique for medical imaging at optical wavelengths, are reviewed. A mathematical model of the image formation process is presented. This model can serve as a basis for image reconstruction and restoration algorithms. At present, it is being used to study various aspects of the process that are difficult to address by experimental methods. An example of this is the effect of various system parameters on image resolution. This is illustrated with an analysis of resolution as a function of the duration and incident angle of imaging pulses
