Abstract
Thermoluminescent detectors (TLDs) heated by infrared laser stimulation are discussed. Discrete spots on a relatively large TLD are heated to release dosimetric information with a spatial resolution that depends on laser beam diameter and radial heat conduction. The laser beam is focused to improve spatial resolution and decrease heating time for each spot. Decreasing the laser beam diameter 81.2% increases heating rates as much as 30 times initially and improves spatial resolution in proportion to beam diameter
