  • Abstract
Wireless access networks support terminal mobility by providing wireless terminals with access to their subscribed services across multiple networks. Universal Personal Telecommunication (UPT) supports personal mobility by providing users with access to their subscribed services across multiple networks at any terminal. To support terminal mobility, it is necessary to associate service subscription with the terminal itself, not the point at which it accesses the network as was done traditionally. This terminal-related service information can then be shared across networks so that the same services can be provided at any location. Personal mobility requires a similar approach but with a focus on users. However, when a UPT user makes use of a wireless terminal there results an interaction between terminal mobility and personal mobility which is not necessarily straightforward and needs to be investigated
