Abstract
Criteria for the choice of a strategy for an extreme-seeking photovoltaic battery charger system are discussed. A feedback regulator stabilizing the input voltage to its power cell has been chosen and its dynamic model analyzed. The approach, based on the cell characteristic coefficients, is shown to accurately predict the behavior of this uncommon regulator with an LC input filter and is fed by a source with a nonnegligible output resistance. The availability of an easy-to-use dynamic model facilitates the visualization of the design tradeoffs and provides a comprehensive base for design decisions.<>
