Abstract :
A microstrip patch antenna with the EBG structure is proposed. The performance improvement of the antenna demonstrates that the EBG structure has effects on surface wave suppression and broadside radiation power reduction. 4 columns of EBG structure are embedded between array elements for mutual coupling reduction. An 12 dB mutual coupling reduction is achieved significantly.
