Abstract
This paper presents the dynamic models describing the variable-ratio modes of an electrically variable transmission. With the help of these models, a distinction is made between dynamic output torque and steady-state output torque. Two-input two-output transmission controllers are designed from the dynamic models to meet driver torque demands while also accommodating preferred engine operating points. Simulation results illustrate representative dynamic response characteristics.
