Abstract :
This paper describes the laser radar system that combines a laser distance meter and pan-tilt equipment. We propose an algorithm for calculating reflection points of laser beam. Moreover, we propose a vehicle distinction method using characteristics of vehicle shapes. We used this system to undertake an experiment in which we measured stationary vehicles. We successfully detected where the car is parked in a second when the parking area consists of ten lots. We modeled the typical shapes of cars, and classified measured data of actual cars
