The progress and schedules associated with OSI management standardization, and efforts to define network management requirements, are reviewed; the author synopsizes the ISO efforts to standardize management communication services for specific functional areas of management, reviews efforts to integrate network management across ISO and non-ISO environments, and examines some of the advanced needs for futuristic management systems
