Abstract :
PRC (pseudo-random code) radar systems are being investigated for short range sensors and terminally guided submunitions (TGSM). A PRC radar system is presented which offers high resolution range and Doppler processing, and the simplicity of a solid state transceiver. System modelling has been used to predict system performance, and to identify the most critical parameters for code performance. A correlator ASIC has been designed using gallium arsenide technology, and 32 range bins have been incorporated onto this single chip, which should be capable of running at clock speeds greater than the required 167 MHz, allowing future updates when technology permits
