Abstract
We are developing Compton scattering type hard X-ray polarimeter filing unit counters. One unit counter consists of flat panel multianode photomultiplier with 64 channel anodes, 36 pieces of plastic scintillator and 28 pieces of CsI(Tl) scintillator. In computer simulation, the unit counter can obtain the detection efficiency of 12∼15% and the analyzing power for polarization of ∼48%, respectively. Moreover, we constructed the prototype polarimeter with one unit counter for balloon borne experiment. For the calibration due to 57Co 122 keV on the ground, we recognized that the prototype detector operates correctly.
