Abstract
The conclusions of an indepth study of four possible powering solutions are outlined. It is shown that there is no singular powering scheme which best meets the requirements of all the new proposed fiber- and radio-based local loop architectures. Different powering solutions are proposed for different systems. It is concluded that powering aspects will play a major role in deciding which telecommunication system provides the most appropriate fiber architecture for replacing copper in the future local network
