Abstract :
In this paper, a concept of a system for wireless locating and data communication for industrial applications is proposed. The proposed system employs ultra-wide band radio for decentralized spatial localization of mobile sensor nodes and for communication. Due to the robustness UWB radio transmissions, it can be used in shop floor environments, e. g. for self-tracking of automated ground vehicles in factory plants. A prototypical implementation of the proposed system is presented and verified by experiments in an industrial environment.
