Abstract :
The authors report on work carried out towards realising the building blocks which will be required for the fabrication of silicon hybrid optical motherboards. They have successfully coupled light between silica waveguides and optical fibres, lasers and waveguides, and waveguides and photodiodes, using passive alignment in every case
