Abstract :
The authors find that the capacity depends more on interference from surrounding cell users as the cell radius decreases. They propose a DS-CDMA system with orthogonal sequence spreading and analyze its reverse-link performance. For microcellular systems, synchronization errors between mutual users are relatively small when every reverse-link signal is synchronized with synchronized forward-link signals at the receiver. Orthogonal sequence spreading in the reverse-link reduces the interference generated by users in the same cell without additional processing. The system has a large capacity when the radius is such that interference from users in surrounding cells is comparable to that from users in the same cell
