Abstract :
Summary form only given. Polarization state sensitive effects and their relation to fundamental aspects of the nonlinear light matter interaction are increasingly attracting attention as they are relevant to optical signal processing as well with some far reaching repercussions there. It can be anticipated that certain features of these interactions can be selectively singled out and enhanced in micro-cavities containing semiconductor quantum-wells in particular when operated in the regime of the strong coupling between cavity and excitonic modes. Here, we present an experimental study of the nonlinear Faraday rotation occurring in a /spl lambda//2 long asymmetric Fabry-Perot micro-cavity containing a single CdMnTe/CdMgTe quantum-well.
