Abstract
This paper presents an active power filter control strategy which forces the input current to follow a reference current, permitting to maintain the input current with low harmonic distortion and in-phase with the sinusoidal voltage supplying a nonlinear load. This control strategy is applied to a parallel active power filter providing the harmonics and reactive energy to the load in such way that the source furnishes theoretically only the real energy required by the load. The operating principles, including the calculus of reference current, are described and some experimental and simulation results are presented
