Abstract
This article presents a study of single-phase active filters investigating specifically the design of the output filter and the control loop. The limits imposed by international standards regarding harmonics and conducted EMI are considered. The effect of the line impedance and the losses in the filter elements must be taken in account to have a secure design. Excellent harmonic compensation is obtained by means of a flat frequency response up to 3 kHz, while the EMI limit is obtained by using a high-order undamped low-pass filter. Simulation and experimental results are presented
