  • Abstract
When a gasoline engine is changed into a methanol engine which is fueled with pure methanol (M100), the engine will present higher power performance, higher economical efficiency and lower emission. The performance of cold-start, however, becomes worse, which is inconvenient for users. This paper introduces 469QJ´s structural characteristic, cold-start technology used in 469QJ engine and the relevant experiments. 469QJ, the self-determined research and development methanol engine, is an EFI engine and has four valves per cylinder. Cold-start technology is developed especially for methanol engine (M100). The experiments show that reasonable cooling and lubrication system makes it possible for methanol engine to have higher reliability performance and longer life. At the same time, the experiments show that the cold-start technology is efficient to improve the methanol engine´s performance.
