Abstract
Guaranteed data delivery within certain time bounds and high probability of success is required by many continuous event monitoring applications. A low complexity protocol for network connectivity and data transfer to the base station from any location in the recognized area is proposed for designing a robust Wireless Sensor Network for such applications. A simulator is developed to study its effectiveness and also to derive guidelines for a good Wireless Sensor Network design. Protocol performance in terms of network set up time, energy, coverage, connectivity, lifetime, event success probability, etc. is studied. Results of simulations are presented.
