Abstract
One dominating view of simulation, especially when graphical methods or notations are used to construct simulations, is that of transaction flow. This paper identifies six behavioral patterns that highlight problems with this view. An object-oriented method of constructing simulations is introduced which consists of embedding simulation entities in “yokes”, which can be thought of as reified contracts
