Abstract :
QoS guaranteeing in heterogeneous networks is a complex issue, especially when each network provides a distinct QoS level and services have multimedia nature. This is the case when wireless access to a fixed backbone is provided to mobile multimedia terminals. Due to user mobility and bursty channel errors, the link capacity and reliability may dramatically vary over short time scales. In this scenario, it is very difficult to guarantee the QoS negotiated at call set-up. The efficacy of an adaptive QoS paradigm is examined in this paper within an algorithmic framework, conceived for admission control of multimedia calls and dynamic radio resource management
