Abstract
An analytical model for an ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) switch with input queueing is presented. The model is applicable to switches based on classical unichannel switching, or multichannel switching with uniform and nonuniform channel groups, subject to uniform and nonuniform traffic. The analysis shows that the performance advantage of multichannel switching is substantial compared to its unichannel counterpart
