Abstract :
Noise figure is becoming a more and more prevalent specification of devices, components and systems. Microprocessor controlled instrumentation, that performs the sequences of measurements and calculations necessary for accurate noise figure results, should fit in very well with automatic test equipment. The fundamentals of noise characterization will be discussed along with special requirements for automatic systems. Potential areas where automatic systems can make important contributions will be emphasized.
