Abstract
The paper describes the general classes of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generator, together with work carried out by Loughborough University Pulsed Power Group in examining the feasibility of self contained (self-excited) pulsed devices. These are driven by either rocket propellant or plastic explosive and thus operate for quite different lengths of time. The authors briefly describe these devices and their operation, as well as load conditioning
