Abstract :
Summary form only given. This contribution reviews recent developments to exploit free-space electro-optic sampling of multi-THz electric fields and high-frequency tunable sources in experiments investigating nonequilibrium dynamics in semiconductors on a time scale of 10 fs. The first part concentrates on the quantitative measurement of electric field transients with frequency content up to 100 THz. In the next step, an experimental scheme to study photo-induced charge transfer phenomena directly with 10 fs resolution is presented. In the third section of the presentation, very recent efforts to apply ultrabroadband THz technology in nonlinear pump-probe experiments are discussed.
