Abstract
A dynamic spectrum sharing and band aggregation algorithm based on a Markov Model (MM) to be embedded in the LTE is suggested in this paper for efficient EM spectrum management and the simulation results are presented. Under this study, towards exploring the spectrum opportunities, a radio scene analysis was performed in the best prospective 700 MHz band which is to be deployed in the near future for LTE either licensed or shared. The measurement results were used to validate the Markov Model based algorithm on the prevailing scenario in which the spectrum holes can be efficiently sensed and quickly assigned to the operators sharing the spectrum. The operator can utilise the unlicensed bandwidth at any given point of time, enabling a block-free usage. The study also presents the cost analysis of using the algorithm in a future licensed scenario.
