Abstract :
A model-based controller suitable for application to single-phase voltage sourced PWM rectifiers has been developed. The new controller effectively eliminates the problem of harmonic distortion of the line current due to the 100 Hz output ripple being fed back via the voltage controller. In the past, the necessity to maintain low harmonic content in the input current has required the bandwidth of the control loop to be restricted. This problem is overcome in the model-based controller due to substantially greater attenuation of the output ripple. It is found that the maintenance of low harmonic distortion no longer requires the bandwidth to be restricted
