Discussion on emergency response of fire department in “5.12 Wenchuan” Earthquake

The rescue mission to “5.12 Wenchuan” Earthquake is the first time for Chinese fire control forces to carry out an operation that lasts a long period, covers a large scale and crosses over many regions and areas. To a certain extent, it is a test on the rescue capabilities of the fire control forces. In this article, the performances of Fire Corps of Guizhou Province in the rescue operations are summarized, followed by the description on the problems they met. At last, the measures and suggestion to increase the rescue capabilities are presented from the perspectives of team building, training, psychological recovery, and supplying system.
