Fuzzy logic control of a pearlite plant

The rate of feed from the holding bins to the conveyors, the conveyor speeds, and the speed of rotation of the kiln are all controlled by PID loops. The fuzzy control strategy does not include these loops, although in the future they might be used to add a further dimension of power to the fuzzy control strategy used. But initially it was decided to exclude these variables and concentrate on the kiln itself, particularly when previous attempts at automatic control of the kilns had failed
