Abstract
We propose the hybrid head of line blocking/partial buffer sharing (HOL/PBS) queueing scheme to reduce the block rate of multiclass calls in the multimedia personal communication service (MPCS). The proposed scheme is provided with analytic results and simulation for comparison in terms of the forced termination probability and mean waiting time. An analytical model as a two dimension Markov process is provided and also used to investigate the impact of the major parameters on the system performance. The proposed scheme obtains more accurate analytic results.
