Abstract :
The correct sitting posture in writing could help students to write pretty words, breathe smoothly, and reveal a concentrative attitude. It can also protect the students from myopia and backbone/neck diseases. This work will propose an improved surveillance system, which is based on infrared reflection technology, to help children to correct their sitting posture. By instantaneously monitoring the sitting posture, the system will alert the user to rehabilitate himself/herself in a correct posture when he/she unconsciously uses pen in an incorrect posture. The experimental results demonstrate the proposed system can be easily mounted on the top of pen and indeed effectively alerts the user as expected.
